In a major step toward tackling HIV/AIDS in Nigeria, the National Orientation Agency (NOA) and the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) have formalized their collaboration with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The partnership is focused on strengthening HIV prevention strategies, minimizing mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT), and eradicating the stigma faced by people living with HIV nationwide.
Leveraging NOA’s vast grassroots communication network across all 774 local government areas and NACA’s specialized expertise in HIV intervention, the two agencies will roll out extensive public awareness campaigns. These will be delivered through a variety of platforms, including radio, television, social media, town hall meetings, and direct community outreach to ensure inclusive and widespread communication.
A critical aspect of the agreement involves training state directors and health desk officers across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones to further support the initiative’s goals.
