A new drug that targets a genetic flaw common to most cancer cells is showing potency against many tumor types.

The preliminary trial of a drug called ulixertinib was conducted with 135 patients who had already failed treatments for one of a variety of advanced, solid tumors.

Researchers led by Dr. Ryan Sullivan, of Massachusetts General Hospital, said ulixertinib did seem to spur at least a "partial response" to the therapy or "disease stabilization," regardless of cancer type.

A baby girl who was diagnosed with a rare life threatening condition called ectopia cordis which doctors said needed to be corrected within hours has been successfully operated on in what is referred to be a UK first.

After a nine week pregnancy scan, baby Vanellope Hope Wilkins was diagnosed with the condition, which had caused her heart and part of her stomach to develop outside her body.

He added that all Nigerians deserve access to quality healthcare irrespective of where they live. He urged the government to give its attention to actualizing that dream.

A study was published in the journal JAMA Neurology on Dec. 11, 2017 has revealed that people with early stage Parkinson's may be able to delay a worsening of the disease through a regimen of intense exercise, new research found.

"If you have Parkinson's disease and you want to delay the progression of your symptoms, you should exercise three times a week with your heart rate between 80 to 85 percent maximum. It is that simple," said study co-lead author Daniel Corcos. He's professor of physical therapy and human movement sciences at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago.

However, a more "moderate" exercise level -- under the heart rate threshold outlined in the study -- was not effective in slowing the disease, the researchers said.
