Special Adviser to the President on Media and Policy, Daniel Bwala has made a u-turn saying that people should disregard all the negative things he said about President Bola Tinubu and his administration as none of it is relevant again. Bwala made the confession while speaking on Arise Television program ‘Morning Show’ on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, admitting he was saying all these lies about Tinubu because he was in the opposition party and his job description was to talk down on leaders of opposition.
Recalled during the build-up to the 2023 presidential election, Bwala dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), on the ground that he cannot support a muslim-muslim ticket presented by the APC.
Bwala declared his allegiance to the main opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) where he secured a job of becoming, Atiku Abubakar’s spokesperson during the 2023 electioneering.
In one of his critic, bwala chided Tinubu candidacy saying that electing him would be like going for a night of thousand laughs.
More so, after the election, Bwala delegitimized Tinubu’s administration, describing it as “president-select” and further accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of manipulating the election in favor of the APC party.
Just before Bwala was offered appointment by the Tinubu government, Bwala in one of his critic said “even if you give president Tinubu 30year on seat, nothing will change in Nigeria”.
However, while speaking on Arise TV today, Bwala, who now serving the presidency as a media aide, in a contrary opinion said ‘everything he said against Tinubu and his administrations are no longer relevant’.
Bwala said “I criticised Tinubu’s election and administration in the past because I was in the opposition.
“The opposition’s work is to criticize the sitting government and hold them accountable. My views changed after I met the President, and he saw a need to appoint me,” he said.
When he was asked if he has had a change of heart about the things he said against Tinubu, the presidential aide simply said, “They are not relevant.”
Meanwhile, he revealed that all his rhetoric against Tinubu, Bwala should be disregarded since he decided to work with the president, he’s been speaking well of him and supports his activities.
