President Bola Tinubu congratulated Afam Osigwe (SAN) on being elected as the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA). Afam Osigwe, who previously served as the general secretary of the association, won the election, securing 20,435 votes. His closest rival, Tobenna Erojikwe, chairman of the NBA-Institute of Continuing Legal Education Governing Council, received 10,998 votes, while former NBA Lagos Branch Chairman, Chukwuka Ikwuazom (SAN), obtained 9,018 votes.
In a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity), Chief Ajuri Ngelale, on Monday, it was mentioned that the president congratulated all the newly elected officers of the NBA as well as the members of the association for the successful conduct of the elections.
President Tinubu praised the outgoing NBA President, Yakubu Maikyau (SAN), for his leadership of Nigeria's premier legal body.
Furthermore, the president expressed the administration's support for the NBA's new leadership in addressing issues impacting both the organization and the legal industry as a whole.
