A former governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, has decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the newly registered African Democratic Congress (ADC), citing continuous “internal crisis” and “ongoing conflicts” in the PDP.
The ex-speaker of the House of Representatives said, “The leadership disagreements and divisions within the party at various levels have made it increasingly difficult for me to continue my active participation and commitment as a member.
“The ongoing conflicts have, unfortunately, weakened the unity and direction that once defined the party.”
Similarly, Senator Austin Akobundu, representing Abia Central Senatorial District, has formally resigned from the PDP, also citing crises within the party.
According to a source, the senator is planning to join the ADC.
