The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has queried the former Governor of Rivers State and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, over alleged anti-party activities and he is to face a disciplinary committee for his action.. PDP Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Ibrahim Abdullahi, made this known today when he appeared on Channels Television’s programme, Sunrise Daily this morning.
Abdullahi disclosed that Wike had been summoned by the party in a query letter issued to him and he is to appear before the Tom Ikimi-led party disciplinary committee set up by the National Working Committee, NWC of the party.
According to Abdullahi, the party put up two committees in place, one for reconciliation and the other for disciplinary measures to airing members, and Nyesom Wike happened to be one of the persons to face the disciplinary committee, which is headed by elder statesman Chief Tom Ikimi.
He said, “The disciplinary committee will look into issues of anti-party activities. We’ve been receiving petitions regarding anti-party activities or sabotaging the party throughout the primary, leading to where we are now. These petitions against Wike and other party members have been aggregated and sent to the committee.
“Some party members even felt that Wike shouldn’t have gotten to this level still as a member of the PDP and they have been writing to the leadership.”
The PDP National secretary added that Wike statement about “putting fire in their states” while reacting to PDP governor’s action in Rivers state was wrong and unacceptable from him.
Abdullahi frowned that “Wike should be able to manage his words carefully; that was a very disappointing remark. We weren’t expecting him to say that, and to be honest with you, we are not with him on that.”
He explained that despite Wike’s criticism against his own party governors over their attempt to reconcile him with his governor Similayi Fubara; Wike went ahead with tantrums.
He added that the height of it was when Wike while addressing party members in his state, Port Harcourt threatened that he will cause political crises in all the states of the PDP governors that were in Rivers who tried to intervene in his fracas with his governor.
Wike concluded that whoever was not comfortable or angry with his position in Tinubu’s government should go and hug the transformer.
