FIFA has confirmed that Russia has been suspended from the 2022 World cup qualifying series.

Russian Billionaire, Roman Abramovich has demanded that any new company that wishes to buy Chelsea football club to continue to invest in the club with a promise to develop Stamford Bridge. Sky Sports News reports that the Russian investor since last week has flagged up the Chelsea club for sale, though said he was doing that in the best interest of the club.

Super Eagles boss Augustine Eguavoen has called and released thirty-two (32) man provisional list for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 play-off round against the Black Stars of Ghana. Among the invited players is former U17 World Cup star Akinkunmi Amoo, officially called for the first time, defender Calvin Bassey, Watford forward Emmanuel Dennis and RB Leipzig forward (currently on loan at Leicester City) Ademola Lookman, who recently got cleared by FIFA to switch international allegiance.

The Russian billionaire, being an Oligarch, also a close ally to president Vladimir Putin has bowed to pressure from England and has put to rest speculations regarding his plan for the club.

FIFA and UEFA have suspended Russia's national teams and clubs from international football until further notice due to the country's invasion of Ukraine. In a joint statement, the two football governing bodies announced that all Russian teams “whether national representative teams or club teams, shall be suspended from participation in both Fifa and Uefa competitions until further notice.
