Nigeria’s Plateau United started their campaign in the CAF Champions League on a promising note. The reigning Nigeria Professional Football League champions put up a good show in the first leg of their preliminary stage clash against Eding Sport on Sunday. The preliminary round of game which was played in New Jos Stadium saw the home side beat the visitors by three goals to nil.
Jamie Redknapp has described Manchester City Midfielder, Kevin De Bruyne as "the best I’ve ever seen at passing the ball" after he nabbed three assists for Manchester City on Saturday. Arsene Wenger has suggested that English players have become the “masters” of diving after both Harry Kane and Dele Alli were accused of simulation during Tottenham’s 2-2 draw with Liverpool on Sunday.
Specific names were not mentioned by Wenger but, ahead of Saturday's north London derby, Wenger was asked directly about Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino’s claim that “football is about trying to trick your opponent”. Pochettino also said that English football had become “so sensitive” about what he called “minimal details” after Alli was booked for a third time in his career for diving.
Nigerian forward Emmanuel Emenike is not yet fit to make his official debut for Spanish LaLiga club Las Palmas, reports in Spain claim.
Former Super Eagles striker Emenike joined Las Palmas on the final day of the winter transfer window on a six-month loan deal from Greek outfit Olympiacos.
He was excluded from the squad that defeated fellow strugglers Malaga 1-0 on Monday.
