Former Chelsea Striker, Diego Costa has formerly completed his move to Atletico Madrid from Chelsea, after he was declared unwanted by Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte. The move was announced on Tuesday by Atletico Madrid ahead of a crucial Champions League clash with Chelsea on Wednesday. The deal was consummated after the player agreed personal terms with the club.
The Club wrote "Diego Costa is now an Atlético player. Atlético de Madrid and Chelsea agreed on the conditions for the transfer of the forward to our club. The international forward signed his new contract after successfully passing the medical tests that he underwent in two phases: last Saturday and Monday. Starting tomorrow, he will join the team’s trainings, but he will not be registered until the next winter market opens on January 1st."
The club also reported that the Player expressed happiness over his return to Spain and assured that he was ready to get started.
"I’m very happy to return home, I’ve always said it, Atlético is my home, I’m very, very happy." In addition, he is already thinking of getting back to work: "I’m looking forward to start contributing. I’m going to give my all for the team, as I always try to do."
Costa also thanked club owner, Miguel Angel Gil for his efforts. "I also appreciate the effort that Miguel Ángel Gil has made especially, and the whole club for making this move forward, I’m very grateful to everyone.”
Costa will wear Shirt Number 18 when he resumes action in January.
