28-year-old Chelsea player, Eden Hazard has been signed by Real Madrid for an initial fee of £88m, although there are a number of add-ons included in the transfer who could see the Blues net another £42m.
Hazard, has since the World Cup last summer disclosed that he wanted to move to Real Madrid and repeated those sentiments after a League game at Southampton in October, saying ‘I’m not going to lie, Real Madrid is my dream’.
The transfer remains a victory for Granovskaia, who has remained steadfast in her belief that Hazard was worth a huge sum even though his deal runs out next year.
As revealed by Standard Sport last month, Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane crucially told his board to spend whatever it took to get Hazard to Spain and they have done just that.
Recall that the player (Hazard) joined Chelsea for £32m from Lille in 2012. He has won six major trophies, the last of which was the Europa League last week, scoring two goals in the final.
Hazard, who is regarded as one of the best players in the world, scored 110 goals for the Blues and made 81 assists.
His departure, while inevitable, will still be a massive blow to the club. However, they have signed Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund.
