Sebastien Siani has expressed apprehension over the possibility of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon to lose the return leg fixture against the Super Eagles of Nigeria on Monday in Cameroon. The prolific Cameroon midfielder while speaking with Cameroon-info.net blamed their woeful display against the Super Eagles in Uyo on the absence of collective will by teammates.
He explained that each of them played for themselves, lamenting that they could still lose the second leg at the Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde if the attitude is not changed.
According to him “We could not manage the game. It is a collective defeat. That allowed us to recognize our level. Today as long as we are not united, we cannot play well to win. Against Nigeria, we did not play at our optimal level. Everyone played for himself and it was not to our disadvantage. It is important that we play collectively. We were not good enough in Nigeria and everyone is aware of what happened.”
Recall that the Super Eagles defeated the Indomitable Lions 4-0 on Friday in Uyo to take their lead to 9 points. The second leg of the encounter is billed to take place today in Cameroon. Currently, Cameroon has 2 points and sits third on the table after Zambia.
He, however, called on his teammates to approach the game with all focus and commitment, stressing that the match will be for national pride.
"We must raise our level after our poor performance in Uyo. We’ll give everything to win the match here at home. We will play simple, effective football and play like the real Lions.”
"The AFCON is finished and we have moved on. Tomorrow, we will come back after that defeat in Uyo, just like we came back from poor form to win the AFCON. We will be humble, simple, motivated; we’ll play for honour and pride. We’re ready,” he added.
