The Canadian government has shut down the operations of the Chinese-owned TikTok business in the country citing security risk as reason for its action. The government gave the ban order today yesterday shutting down all TikTok bussines offices across major cities.
The country’s industry minister, François-Philippe Champagne, , stated this through a statement, saying that the ban includes the closure of “TikTok’s offices in Toronto and Vancouver, while Canadians can continue using the mobile app with caution if they so wish.
The statement partly said, “The government is not blocking Canadians’ access to TikTok application or blocking their ability to create content. The decision to use a social media app or platform is a personal choice.
“The government’s action is to address the specific national security risks related to ByteDance Ltd’s operations in Canada through the establishment of TikTok Technology Canada Inc.”
Since the beginning of the Israel against Palestine people last year, TikTok has been facing criticism from across America and Europe over what they described as security and data breach privacy.
The Chinese firm has continued to allow content creator to post incident with less censorship on the platform.
