Following a come-back staged by Donald Trump on his re-election bid as the 47th president of the United States of America, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated him and the entire US government. This was released in a statement this afternoon through his presidential Spokesman, Bayo Onanuga saying that Nigeria is looking forward to strengthening the ties between the country and the United States amid the complex challenges and opportunities of the contemporary world.
In the statement, Tinubu said that Nigeria and the U.S. can foster economic cooperation, promote peace, and address global challenges that affect our citizens.
The Nigerian leader said Trump’s victory reflects the trust and confidence the American people have placed on his leadership style considering his record.
Mr Tinubu, therefore, congratulated them on their commitment to democracy.
According to president Tinubu, Trump’s experience, and his successful return to the White House as the 47th president of the most powerful nation would usher in an era of earnest, beneficial and reciprocal economic as well as development partnerships between Africa and the United States.
“Acknowledging the United States’ influence, power and position in determining the trend and course of global events, the Nigerian leader trusts that President Trump will bring the world closer to peace and prosperity,” the statement added.
