The National Labour Congress has announced that it plans to hold a National Security Summit and nationwide rallies over the spate of Kidnapping, communal clashes, Boko Haram and other national security challenges.
This was made known in a communiqué signed by NLC President, Ayuba Wabba and outgoing General Secretary Dr Peter Ozo-Eson after the National Council Meeting in Kano State.

On 21st August 2019, the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs urges political office holders and other Nigerian dignitaries to keep it abreast about their impending foreign travel schedules, so as to enable the Ministry to make adequate preparation for their safety. This is coming four days after former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, was attacked at the 2nd Annual Igbo Cultural Festival in Nuremberg, Germany by suspected members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).


On 17th August 2019, President Muhammadu Buhari ordered the Military serving in North-Western Nigeria to pursue armed bandits terrorizing the geopolitical zone and eliminate them. The President gave the order while addressing 15 officers and 160 soldiers of the 17th Army Brigade and Nigerian Air Force 213 Operational Base in Katsina, under the “Operation Hadarin Daji’’, at the Umaru Musa Yar’adua airport, Katsina.
