Following the elevation of the Department of State Services (DSS), Institute for Security Studies (ISS) to the National Institute of Security Studies (NISS) by the Federal Government, the Institute will now be equivalent to the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) and National Defence College (NDC).

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, visited troops of Operation Lafiya Dole yesterday in Maiduguri, Borno State. During the visit, Buratai interacted with the troops to know their challenges in the battlefields.

Worried by the growing cases of banditry in Northwest Nigeria especially in Zamfara State, the Force Commander, Operation Hadarin Daji, Maj. Gen. Jide Ogunlade on Tuesday, 24th June 2019 issued a 24-hour ultimatum to bandits in Zamfara State to surrender. The bandits were asked to either surrender or face “unprecedented fire-fight”, according to Ogunlade.

The South-East Governors have insisted that there wouldn’t be any cattle ranch or cattle colony in their zone.
This was made known by the Chairman of the southeast governors’ forum, Gov. Dave Umahi while reacting to lingering controversies surrounding the alleged proposal by the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) to organize local vigilante groups in the South-East.

Following months of negotiations, between the government of Borno State, the Kalthum Foundation for Peace, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) and the Department of State Security (DSS), some abducted corps members earlier kidnapped by Boko Haram insurgents, have regained freedom.
