Following the violent protest that erupted today, 22nd July 2019 by the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), a heretic Islamic group which is a shootout of the popular Shi'ite grouphas claimed its highest-profile victim yet as the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operation at FCT Command, DCP Umar was reported killed by the group.

Members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) popularly known as Shiites on Monday, again set out on a protest for the release of their leader Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, at the Federal Secretariat, Abuja. However, this protest became violent as the IMN members set ablaze the Emergency Response vehicles of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

Report by the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) indicated that Nigeria lose over N1.4 trillion every year to violence against children.
According to a consultant with Bauchi Field Office of the UNICEF, Mrs Rita Pele, who made it known on Wednesday, 17th July 2019 during the inauguration of the reports on Financial Benchmark and Economic Burden of Violence Against Children in Nigeria in Jos, Plateau state.
