In an effort to continue it offensive operation on terrorist agents in the country, Nigeria's Chief of Defense Staff, Gen. Gabriel Olonisakin on Thursday 1st August 2019 inaugurated four locally manufactured Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP)vehicles. The vehicles were manufactured by Proforce, a specialist in the manufacturing of Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs) in concert with the Nigerian Army.

Former Vice President and the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the last general elections, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has called for the inauguration of a Judicial Commission of Inquiry to investigate reports by Wall Street Journal that the Nigerian Military has clandestinely buried over one thousand soldiers in secret graveyards across the North East. The report claimed that the soldiers were killed by Boko Haram and ISWAP.

Members of Islamic Movement in Nigeria, otherwise known as Shiites, on Wednesday announced the suspension of their street protests. The movement said the protests which was solely intended for the release of its detained leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky; his wife and others were suspended to give room for “some new openings” into the resolution of the matter.

Presidential spokesman, GarbaShehu has recounted in a statement that the "real BokoHaram" has been defeated. The Presidential aide recounted that what remains now is “a mixture of remnants of BokoHaram, fugitive criminals and the Islam in the Maghreb together with West African terrorists bonding together.”
