Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, has launched a joint operation code-named Operation Puff Adder to check kidnapping and banditry in five states. Adamu stated that the operation is part of measures taken to curb the excesses of criminal activities. This would be carried out in collaboration with the Armed Forces and Department of State Security (DSS).
He said the operation involves massive deployment of well-trained, well-equipped and well-motivated personnel and combined operational assets from the various security agencies aimed at curbing the menace of kidnapping and banditry in the country, especially along Kaduna – Abuja Expressway and in Kogi, Katsina, Niger, and Zamfara states.
The IGP called for the full support and cooperation of Nigerians, particularly traditional and religious leaders, youth associations, market bodies, cultural associations and professionals among others.
