The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Sunday said it had lost an airman in a parachuting accident in Kaduna. The NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore, Ibikunle Daramola, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria.
In a meeting attended by the nation's Security chiefs, the Chief of Defense Staff, General Gabriel Olonisakin, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, Chief of Naval Staff, Ibok Ekwe Ibas and other heads of security and intelligence agencies, President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the security agencies in the country to ensure that all bandits are immediately dealt with.
On Wednesday, 10th April 2019, Air Task Force (ATF) of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) under its code name "Operation Diran Mikiya" disclosed to have destroyed about eight (8) hideouts of bandits in Zamfara State. According to a statement released by the NAF through its spokesman, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, the air strikes which were intensified on 8 April 2019 with the deployment of additional aircrafts are aimed at flushing out the bandits out of the Zamfara-Katsina and Kaduna axis.
As part of efforts to reform the country prison, the Federal Executive Council (FEC), during its weekly meeting yesterday approved a contract of 2.8 billion naira for the installation of a digital web-based integrated system to fast-track prisons decongestion across the country.
