The organized labour has threatened to shut down Federal Government Colleges, FGC, known as unity schools over poor welfare, staff shortage, among others.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved the establishment of a Federal Polytechnic in Abuja to be named after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa confirmed this in a letter addressed to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, on 9th January 2025. Alausa said establishing the institution is part of the Ministry’s plan to ensure every state has a federal polytechnic nationwide.
