Africa’s richest conglomerate, Aliko Dangote, Chairman of Dangote Group and Chancellor of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, ADUSTECH, Wudil, has pledged N15 billion for various capital projects in the university as his contribution. Mr Dangote announced the donation at the university during the 5th combined convocation ceremony held yesterday Saturday in Kano.

Concerns have continued to pour in over the massive failure of candidates in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) as 1.5 million out of the 1.9 million candidates who sat for the examination conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) scored below 200.
The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, has stated that the high failure rate in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) is proof that anti-malpractice measures are working effectively, particularly within the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) system. The comment came in the wake of widespread concerns following JAMB’s release of data showing that out of 1,955,069 candidates who sat for the exam, only about 420,000 scored above 200. More than 78% failed to meet the 200-mark threshold. Speaking on Channels Television’s Morning Brief on Tuesday, the Minister attributed the poor performance to reduced cheating due to JAMB’s stringent security protocols. The Federal Government has commenced the implementation of the Dual Mandate Policy across Federal Colleges of Education (FCOEs), after enacting the Federal Colleges of Education Act, 2023.
The Federal Government has directed the West African Examinations Council, WAEC, and the National Examinations Council, NECO to adopt full Computer-Based Test, CBT, for all their examinations latest by 2026. Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, gave the directive on behalf of federal government during the monitoring of the ongoing exams alongside JAMB officials, in Bwari this morning.
