The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), has announced disconnection of power supply at the Lagos airport on June 5, to permit maintenance work. FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Obiageli Orah, said the maintenance is necessary to address urgent issues with the bus riser 11 kilo-volt-amperes (KVA) high tension (HT) panel located on the ground floor, north of international terminal 2 (ITZ-2). 

The Nigeria Police Force has stated that it will soon set up a full drone system to tackle the nation’s security challenges effectively.

The Peoples Democratic Party, has yesterday, advised the organised labour not to settle for anything less than N120,000 as a minimum, as the Federal Government had no reason for not complying. However, the All Progressives Congress, APC, whose government is proposing N60,000 as minimum wage, described the PDP’s advice to Labour as unpatriotic. The Organised labour, spearheaded by the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trades Union Congress, began a nationwide strike on yesterday Monday, 3rd June, 2024 after rejecting the Federal Government’s N60,000 as minimum wage while proposing N494,000 as minimum wage. 

The organised labour after a failed negotiation yesterday with top government functionaries failed has directs members to embark on indefinite strike today as planned following the federal government’s refusal to increase the minimum wage above N60,000. Labour, whom are pressing for N494,000, as minimum wage for a Nigerian worker were in a marathon meeting last night in Abuja after a three-hour meeting with the National Assembly leadership and top officials of the Executive arm of government. 

Former president Olusegun Obasanjo say Nigeria must begin to recruit new generation of leaders who should take over the mantle of leadership from the current one. Obasanjo made this remarks in Lagos at the ongoing Africa Methodist Council Heads of Conference Summit and Women’s Movement Leadership Summit being held in Lagos. According to the Nigerian former leader, insecurity had made the country a dangerous place to live, describing the country as now a land filled with so much suffering and hunger. 

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has unveiled an upgraded platform for reporting cybercrime. This was made known on Thursday by the Force Spokesperson, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi who stated that the new portal has replaced the old site. The statement reads, “The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) is pleased to inform the general public of the launch of a new, more robust and secure domain for reporting cybercrime-related offences as part of the continued commitment to combating cybercrime and enhancing the safety and security of our digital space.
