Northern leaders have urged the Nigerian government to desist processes of foreign relocation of military bases from the Sahel to Nigeria.

Some repentant Boko Haram insurgents Tuesday night invaded a police station in Maiduguri in an attempt to set free their colleagues that were arrested earlier over alleged drug offences, witnesses disclosed on Thursday. However, Police Public Relations Officer in Borno State, Kenneth Daso, who confirmed that there was an incident at the police station, said the assailants were repelled by officers on duty.

The Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) yesterday moved to secure Critical National Information Infrastructure (CNII) by directing all law enforcement agencies, regulators, businesses and stakeholders to put in place mechanisms for the full enforcement of the Cybercrimes Prohibition Act. The directive will also counter terrorism and violent extremism, strengthen national security and protect economic interests, Head-Strategic Communications, ONSA, Mr. Zakari Mijinyawa, said in Abuja.

The Director, Defence Media Operations, Maj-Gen. Edward Buba, revealed that two personnel of the Nigerian Army shall be facing a court martial following the bombing incident at Tudun Biri in Kaduna State, where scores of villager celebrating Maulud lost their lives. The military General made this known today while briefing newsmen in Abuja on updates on operations of the Armed Forces.

The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, has called for the sacking of the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari, and Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu by president Tinubu. NANS protest comes amidst of the challenges faced by Nigerians as a result epileptic electricity supply with high tariffs, and the ongoing fuel crisis that has continued unabated despite removal of fuel subsidy.
