The Federal Government of Nigeria through the Ministry of Education has stated that a new curriculum would be introduced for secondary schools nationwide by September 2024. The Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman, stated this during ‘2024 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board Policy’ conference in Abuja on Thursday. In his statement, he said, “We are working hard to ensure that a new curriculum is introduced for secondary schools by September”. Mamman also acknowledged that the exercise is being prioritized with a forthcoming stakeholders meeting scheduled for August 6, 2024.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) official cut-off marks for the 2024 admission exercise into tertiary institutions in Nigeria have been announced. The marks were announced on Thursday at the policy meeting held in Abuja, which was presided over by the Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman, and attended by all relevant stakeholders in the education sector. The policy meeting agreed on a minimum score of 140 for candidates seeking University admission, and 100 for Polytechnics and Colleges of Education.

The Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB), has planned its 2024 Edition annual policy summit to hold on July 18, as well as begins admission into the nation’s tertiary institutions. The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) in Kebbi State have joined the nationwide strike over salary arrears owed to members. This was reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that both unions from the Federal University, Birnin Kebbi, (FUBK), were protesting the non-payment of their salary arrears by the Federal Government, thereby shutting down the university on Tuesday.
