Beginning from June 2024, the Nigerian Immigration Service will start home delivery of passports in Lagos, Port Harcourt, Kano, and Abuja, the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has assured. The Minister spoke on Friday when he inspected the electronic gates at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport’s new terminal in Abuja.

A former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mr. Ibrahim Lamorde passed on this morning owing to a reported case of kidney stone. It was learnt he gave up in a hospital in Egypt during a procedure to remove the stone. Arrangements are been made to fly his remains back to Nigeria on Monday, May 27, for burial in line with Islamic injunctions.

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has granted the erstwhile Commander of Force Intelligence Response Team, IRT, DCP, Abba Kyari two weeks bail from Kuje correctional custody. Accordingly, the court disclosed that the two-week bail granted is to allow Kyari travel to his hometown, Maiduguri and conclude his mother’s burial rites. This is as the court has subsequently set Friday, May 31, 2024 as a date for the determination of his bail application before the court.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of ACM Shehu Mohammed as the new Corp Marshal and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC). This was contained in a letter of appointment signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume dated May 20th, 2024.

The House of Representatives yesterday urged the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to carry out a comprehensive mop-up of all arms, ammunition, AK-47 rifles, cutlasses, and other weapons in the possession of herders and individuals and to prohibit the public carrying of such arms and weapons. The House also asked the IGP, the Director General of Department of State Services (DSS), and the Commandant General of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to comb Yagba forests in Kogi State, rescue all abductees and bring to justice all kidnappers that have made the forests their home.
