The Senate has yesterday constituted a seven-man ad-hoc committee to probe into how the $18.5billion budgeted for Abuja Centenary Economic City project has not been able to complete the project after 10 years. The committee was also tasked to extend their investigation into reviewing the original public-private partnership agreement and recommending amendments, if necessary, to facilitate the smooth and expeditious completion of the project within a defined timeframe. 

The Nigerian Army, in a joint operation with other security agencies suppresses activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and the Eastern Security Network, ESN, and recovered several arms.

The Ministry of Information and National Orientation has issued a statement to refute the rumors suggesting that Nigeria is planning to establish a foreign military base within its borders. On Monday, the Minister, Mohammed Idris, clarified that these reports are false and unfounded. He added that the Federal Government is not contemplating such an engagement, nor has it received any proposal to that effect.

Some repentant Boko Haram insurgents Tuesday night invaded a police station in Maiduguri in an attempt to set free their colleagues that were arrested earlier over alleged drug offences, witnesses disclosed on Thursday. However, Police Public Relations Officer in Borno State, Kenneth Daso, who confirmed that there was an incident at the police station, said the assailants were repelled by officers on duty.

The Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) yesterday moved to secure Critical National Information Infrastructure (CNII) by directing all law enforcement agencies, regulators, businesses and stakeholders to put in place mechanisms for the full enforcement of the Cybercrimes Prohibition Act. The directive will also counter terrorism and violent extremism, strengthen national security and protect economic interests, Head-Strategic Communications, ONSA, Mr. Zakari Mijinyawa, said in Abuja.
