Ahead of the May 29, 2023 inauguration of the new government, the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has directed the immediate relocation of all aircraft parked at the General Aviation Terminal (GAT) of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja in order to improve the security of the airport. This was made known in a circular issued by the Regional Manager, FAAN, Kabir Mohammed which was addressed to aircraft operators.
The Nigerian Navy expressed concern over the increase in the number of illegal maritime security outfits in the country, adding that some of these security outfits use the uniforms of the Nigerian Navy while others use uniforms similar to the Navy. This was made known in a statement released on Friday by the Director of Naval Information, Commodore Adedotun Ayo-Vaughan.

The first set of Nigerian evacuees fleeing Sudan due to the outbreak of war arrived in Abuja in the late hours of 3rd May 2023, they were evacuated from Aswan Egypt. Nigerian commercial carrier Air Peace landed in the nation's capital at about 11:40 pm with 260 passengers while a Nigerian Airplane arrived a few minutes later with about 90 passengers, AFP reporters saw. In an audio sent to the Nigerian in the Diaspora Commission Situation Room on Wednesday, a Nigerian official explained the reasons for the delay in the airlifting of stranded Nigerians who ought to have arrived in the country earlier today.
The chairperson of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri Erewa has revealed that the Egypt border has been opened to Nigerians fleeing Sudan after President Muhammadu Buhari had spoken with Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. “The border has just been opened, ( with stringent conditions ) after President Buhari’s intervention with the Egyptian President. So, the processing of evacuees by the Nigerian Embassy in Egypt will begin,” Dabiri-Erewa said. Nigerians, who departed Khartoum, the Sudanese capital, on Wednesday languished at the border between Sudan and Egypt over visa-related issues.
A non partisan advocacy group, the National Elders Forum has agreed with President Muhammadu Buhari on the performance of the Armed forces of Nigeria (AFN). The group said the AFN has proven that it has the capacity to defend the country in the face of daunting security challenges.
