The Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority, FCDA, Shehu Ahmed, has said all structures on waterways and flood corridors across the capital city will be demolished by the FCT administration. Mr. Ahmed revealed this in a statement on Sunday in Abuja.
Former Governor of Zamfara state, Sani Yerima Bakura has called on the Federal Government to find a way of dialoguing with the bandits that has worsen the security situation in the north-western part of the country. The former Sharia champion made this known while speaking with the BBC Hausa service today through the mirror-imaging of the bandits to the Niger Delta militants, saying if genuine dialogue is achieved, it may lessen the insecurity.
Following the recent downpour which submerged 116 houses in the Trademore estate at Lugbe area of the Federal Capital Territory on 23rd June, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, Mr. Olusade Adesola has declared the area a disaster zone after an assessment visit to the area. “Having seen the extent of the flooding, we hereby declare the Trademore area a disaster zone that needs immediate action to remedy further damages and loss of lives and properties.“This is part of steps to address the incessant flooding at the Trademore Estate. “I want to assure residents that adequate steps will be taken to forestall further damages to properties and loss of lives to flooding at the Estate.”
Vice President Kashim Shettimma has decorated the newly appointed Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Mr Adewale Adeniyi at the Presidential Villa today. At the brief ceremony witnessed by the Chief of Staff to the President, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, the vice president described the appointment of Mr. Adeniyi as a morale booster for officers in the service. According to the Vice President, “Congratulations for bringing professionalism back to the Nigerian Customs Service. Barely 24 hours after assumption of office, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja has approved the posting and appointment of some senior officers of the Nigerian Army (NA) to command, instructional and staff appointments across Army formations and units in the country. This was contained in a statement made available to news men in Abuja on Sunday evening by Director of Army Public Relations Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu.
The Department of States Services, DSS says terrorists are planning to attack worshipers and fun seekers during sallah celebration. Spokesperson to the secret police, Dr. Peter Afunaya stated this yesterday, warning patronizer of such public places to be careful, especially market places, malls, calling on the general public to report any suspicious movement to authorities. He disclosed that his operatives have recovered primed Improvised Explosive Devices, IEDs from suspected terrorists while on a joint operation by the DSS and a sister agency. He revealed that during an operation along Keffi – Abuja patrol and raid, Keffi LGA, Nasarawa state, a gun runner was apprehended where 486 rounds of 7.62x 39mm ammunitions, 22 primed IED, N31,500 and a Volkswagen car with registration number RBC 202 XA were recovered.
