The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has decried the fraudulent activities of cybercafés and tutorial center operators who specialise in deceiving candidates, using the board’s insignia and name. The exam board in a statement by its Head of Public Affairs, Dr. Fabian Benjamin said criminal elements dupe students under the guise of registering them for the 2021/22 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) application. ”It is a criminal offence for one to use the exam bodys’ name and logo when one is not licensed by the Board to do so for any reason,” Dr. Fabian warned.

The Non-Academic Staff Union on Education ( NASU), Imo State chapter, has requested the federal government to approve a special salary scale for its staff, on the ground that her salary is insufficient to upset their bills.

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP) has on Friday threatened to embark on a nationwide industrial action across all polytechnics with effect from April 6, 2021, over unresolved issues between some of its members and the Federal and State Governments. Mr. Anderson Ezeibe, National President, ASUP made the announcement while addressing the press on the union’s plight during the union’s 99th National Executive Council Meeting, at the Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic, Katsina State.
While speaking, the union president highlighted some of their grievances including the non-payment of 10 months arrears of the new minimum wage as well as the failure of some states to implement the new minimum wage.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities has threatened to resume its suspended strike over non-payment of salaries and alleged victimization of members. Chairman, University of Ibadan branch of ASUU, Prof. Ayo Akinwole, in a statement on Sunday asked Nigerians to blame the Federal Government if universities are shut down again because many lecturers were being owed salaries of between two and 10 months. ASUU said while members were back to their duty posts, the harsh economic situation the members were experiencing due to unpaid salaries and non-refund of deducted check-off dues would affect productivity. According to ASUU the government declined to remit deductions it made to the account of the union, which suggested that the government was planning to strike ASUU. Akinwole also said while government is paying outstanding five-month salaries for those on nominal role at a slow pace, over 100 UI academic workers are being owed salaries.

The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has said that the state will not negotiate with a ‘politicised’ Nigeria Union of Teachers, noting that their demand should fall within the program he has designed for primary school. At a stakeholders forum organised by the State Universal Basic Education with the theme “Improving collaboration in the provision of basic education” in Benin on Monday, the Governor said there was no going back in his quest to improve basic education, which he said was the foundation of whatever the people are today.
