The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Shuaibu Has jettisoned the move by the House of Representatives to scrap the NYSC scheme, saying that its relevance in integration and national cohesion must not be underestimated. The DG who spoke on Wednesday in his office in Abuja stated that the NYSC has been a useful tool for the socio-economic development of the country through the deployment of corps members to states outside their base where they contribute in many ways to the lives of residents of their host communities.

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has rescheduled the 2021 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) into Federal Unity Colleges to Saturday 5th June 2021 as approved by the Federal Ministry of Education. This is contained in a statement by Head of Information and Public Relations Division Mr. Azeez Sani, NECO in Abuja on Wednesday. Sani advised candidates, parents, guardians, and relevant stakeholders to take note of the new date for the examination.

The United States (US) Mission in Nigeria has announced that it would prioritize visa applications by Nigerians planning to resume academic studies in the US by September 2021. This was disclosed in a statement on Friday titled, "US Announces Priority Appointments for Student Visa Applicants." The document which was signed by the US Mission Country Consular Coordinator, Susan Tuller read in part: "As we continue to prioritize the health and safety of our staff and customers, processing student visas remains a high priority for the US Mission in Nigeria.

Ibrahim, who spoke during a two-day training program for corps members on citizenship, conflict resolution, and nation-building by Lux Terra Network and Advocacy Group in Abuja, however, noted that poor governance was the bane of any society.

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board has announced that it will no longer require the use of email for the processing of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) registrations. Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, JAMB Registrar made the announcement while addressing newsmen on Wednesday in Abuja, saying the development will take effect from Thursday, April 15, 2021. He added that email addresses will only be requested at the successful completion of the registration by candidates to access their profile as well as information on the examination during or after the UTME exercise.
