The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board on Thursday banned the use of 16 items in the forthcoming mock examinations scheduled for February 26, 2018. The Board made the position known in a memo issued by the Secretary of JAMB UTME Monitoring Groups, Ngozi Egbuna to members of Civil Society Group.

The Maritime University, Okerenkoko, Delta state has been accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC to begin undergraduate degree programmes from the 2017/2018 academic session.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media and Publicity, Mr Laolu Akande, said the approval underscored government’s commitment to develop Niger Delta in line with the administration’s new vision to develop the region.

According to him, the NUC approved that academic activities begin in three faculties, Transport, Engineering and Environmental Management.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says the much anticipated conduct of the 2018 Mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will hold on Feb. 26.

JAMB’s Head, Media and Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Lagos.

According to him, a total of 245,753 of the 1,652,795 candidates that registered for this year’s UTME are expected to write the test.

The Ministry of Education on Tuesday launched the 2017/2018 Annual School Census, aimed at solving the problem of out-of-school children. The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, said at the ceremony in Abuja that the census was designed to obtain the accurate number of schools and validate the figures.

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has adopted Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki, as the venue for its 2018 national convention scheduled for May 17 to May 20, a communique has said.

The communiqué, made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja, was issued at the end of NANS 74th National Senate Meeting/pre-convention held at Niger State College of Education, Minna.

The communiqué, signed by NANS Senate President, Mr Taiwo Bamigbade, said that the tenure of incumbent NANS’s leadership had long elapsed constitutionally; hence the need for a convention and election.

The Senate of Modibbo Adama University of Technology Yola has ordered an indefinite closure of the school following students’ unrest on Sunday. Students of the federal university of technology have two hours to vacate the campus.

The decision was the outcome of an emergency meeting of the Senate which took place Monday.

The school confirmed one student had been killed.

Earlier reports said the crisis was caused by a student union government leadership tussle.
