The Federal Government in a bid to improve the education system on Wednesday ratified the Safe School Declaration, Daily Trust reports. Adamu Adamu, the Minister of Education made the disclosure while addressing state house correspondents after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The leadership of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Thursday suspended its three-month strike after reaching an agreement with representatives of the Federal Government led by the Minister of Labour and Employee, Dr. Chris Ngige.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), has finally suspended the long lingering industrial action which commenced since November last year. The Union has directed lecturers to immediately resume duty on 12th February.

The Federal Government says it will meet with the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Thursday in continuation of efforts to resolve the ongoing strike by the lecturers. According to Dailytrust, Sen. Chris Ngige, Minister of Labour and Employment, disclosed this yesterday in Abuja, in a statement by Mrs Iliya Rhoda, Deputy Director, Press in the ministry.

The leadership of Academic Staff Union of Universities, Prof Biodun Ogunyemi, says the leadership of the union is still consulting its members on the Federal Government’s offer. Ogunyemi in a message to Sunday Punch said the outcome of the consultations would determine what ASUU would be presenting to the government’s team during their next meeting within the week.
