The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has issued a two weeks ultimatum to both federal government and the Academic Staff Union of Nigerian Universities (ASUU) to negotiate out the strike action or they will face the student wrath.

Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities, SSANU, will on Monday, commence three days nationwide protest over the Federal Government disobedience to court judgment on staff schools and also the inability of the government to keep to agreements especially on Earned Allowance.

The Federal Government has on Saturday issued a directive to Vice-Chancellors of public universities as well as inter-varsity centres, to stop payment of all lecturers who are on strike and have neglected their duties. The directive, which was contained in a memo issued to universities and inter-varsity centres by the National Universities Commission (NUC), was signed by the Director, Research, Information and Technology, Dr S.B. Ramon-Yusuf.
