Former President of Nigerian, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has described the present state of education in the country as confusing. Obasanjo made the statement during the 2019 Global Education and Skills Forum (GESF) held at Dubai, United Arab Emirates on Saturday.

The Federal Government in a bid to improve the education system on Wednesday ratified the Safe School Declaration, Daily Trust reports. Adamu Adamu, the Minister of Education made the disclosure while addressing state house correspondents after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The leadership of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Thursday suspended its three-month strike after reaching an agreement with representatives of the Federal Government led by the Minister of Labour and Employee, Dr. Chris Ngige.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), has finally suspended the long lingering industrial action which commenced since November last year. The Union has directed lecturers to immediately resume duty on 12th February.

The Federal Government says it will meet with the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Thursday in continuation of efforts to resolve the ongoing strike by the lecturers. According to Dailytrust, Sen. Chris Ngige, Minister of Labour and Employment, disclosed this yesterday in Abuja, in a statement by Mrs Iliya Rhoda, Deputy Director, Press in the ministry.
