President Bola Tinubu has with immediate effect directed the release of N16.7bn for the reconstruction of the Mokwa Bridge in Niger State, after it was washed away by torrential flood in May this year, cutting off the community. The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, stated this on Saturday morning in Abakaliki as he is currently leading a federal delegation on a three-day tour of infrastructure projects and citizen engagement initiatives across the South-East in company of the Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi.

The National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR) has established a disciplinary tribunal to enforce ethical conduct and regulatory compliance within Nigeria’s tourism, travel, and hospitality sectors. Justice Ishaq Bello, a former Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory, has been appointed to chair the newly formed Hospitality, Travel, and Tourism Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal. He was officially sworn in alongside other members by NIHOTOUR’s Director-General, Dr. Abisoye Fagade, in Abuja.

The United States (US) Mission in Nigeria has disclosed that a visa applicant would be denied a visa to travel to the US for the purpose of birth tourism, which is when individuals travel to the US to give birth in order for their child to secure an American citizenship.

The United States Department of State has reduced non-immigrant and non-diplomatic visas issued to Nigerians to a single-entry with a three-month validity period. This development was disclosed on Tuesday in a statement issued by the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria, adding that U.S. non-immigrant visas issued before July 8, 2025, would retain their status and validity.

Nigerian nationals residing in India have shared distressing experiences of mistreatment, extortion, and police brutality, leaving many eager to return home with a willingness to accept bail and repatriation if offered, appealing to the Nigerian government for urgent intervention.

A total of 35 individuals, including children, were deported to Nigeria on Wednesday aboard a chartered flight that departed from Dublin Airport to address immigration cases. The operation was carried out by the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB), comprising twenty-one (21) men, nine (9) women, and five (5) children. According to immigration officials, the children were part of family units and were removed alongside their adult relatives.
