MultiChoice Nigeria has reduced the price of its DStv decoder by 50%, from ₦20,000 to ₦10,000. The corporation stated that the move was intended to attract additional customers and reduce dwindling memberships. According to the firm's CEO, John Ugbe, in a statement posted on Tuesday, the offer was intended to reward customer loyalty while providing increased value to members.
"We want to ensure our clients feel appreciated and have access to the best entertainment daily. The 'We Got You' campaign aims to make premium programming more accessible and demonstrate that DStv has something for everyone, not just football enthusiasts.
"By redefining itself as a platform for everyday value, DStv hopes to foster content discovery across a wider range of genres, including movies, drama, children's programming, and news. "This means more channels, shows, and reasons to tune in daily," the statement continued.
The business also launched a promotional offer that allows subscribers to receive a free upgrade to the next DStv package tier if they pay for their current plan in full between June 16 and July 31, 2025.
Multichoice stated that the price reduction and the free upgrade offer are in reaction to the noticeable economic impact on the everyday lives of Nigerians."
This followed a 1.4 million subscriber loss from March 2023 to March 2025.
It should be noted that MultiChoice Nigeria raised the pricing of its DStv and GOtv bundles three times in 12 months: in April 2023, November 2023, and April 2024. The third rise went into effect on May 1.
