The Corporate Alliance on Malaria in Africa (CAMA) has announced the launch of its strategic plan for 2021 and 2023 which comprises a set of blueprint for the elimination of Malaria in Africa for the next three years. The plan was unveiled during tha CAMA's 2020 Partners virtual meeting, saying the plan aims to reach at least 5 million people directly with malaria commodities and 100 million with prevention and control messages.
US-based Nigerian scientist, Dr. Onyeama Ogbuagu has been celebrated following his contributions in the development of the COVID-19 vaccine at America's pharmaceutical company, Pfizer. The pharmaceutical firm revealed that it had developed a COVID-19 vaccine with 94.5 percent effectiveness, indicating a breakthrough in finding a vaccine for the global pandemic.
A recent study conducted has revealed why the severity of the coronavirus disease has less effect in sub-Saharan Africa compared to that of Europe, the US, and Asia. The finding of the study published in the International Journal of Infectious Diseases indicated that there is a higher prevalence of cross-reactive antibodies against Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV-2) in blood samples taken from the Sub-Saharan population.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has launched a global strategy to enhance the elimination of cervical cancer with vaccination, screening, and treatment outlined to eliminate the disease. The organization in a statement said the strategy when implemented could reduce over 40 percent of new cases of the killer disease as well as 5 million related deaths by 2050.

The Safest Travel Score exercise was conducted across 230 airlines worldwide using 26 health and safety parameters, evaluating safety protocols, service excellence, thermal screening, face masks, health declaration forms etc. The safest airline according to Safest Travel Score is Dubai based Emirates Airlines with the highest score of 4.4. The airline led in traveler convenience and was also the 1st to offer customers free COVID-19 insurance cover to encourage travelling during the pandemic.
The Lagos State Government has warned religious leaders in the state against a second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, urging them to intensify safety protocols to avert the spread of the virus. The state Commissioner for Home Affairs, Anofiu Elegushi, spoke on Monday in Lagos at the 2020 International Day for Tolerance.
