The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai on Tuesday ordered the establishment of a standing court martial to try compromised officers who have exhibited political partisanship and breached the code of conduct of the Nigerian Army. The COAS gave the order while speaking at the Chief of Army Staff 1st Quarter Conference in Abuja Federal Capital Territory.
Facebook has suspended a company from its site while it investigates claims it harvested user information under the guise of academic research, in a case with echoes of the Cambridge Analytica scandal. The Guardian reports that, Cubeyou, a New York-based data analytics firm that offers “fast, easy and accurate consumer insights” to customers, gathered some of its user data with Facebook quizzes developed in conjunction with the University of Cambridge.

Mr Ali Janga has been reinstated as the Commissioner of Police in Kogi State, the state police command spokesman, ASP William Aya, has confirmed.
Aya told the News Agency of Nigeria in Lokoja on Thursday that Janga returned to office on April 3 on the order of the Inspector -General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris.
He said that Janga was reinstated after meeting the one week ultimatum given to him by the Inspector -General of Police to re-arrest the suspects who escaped from police custody.
The Nigeria Police Force said it would arraign Sen. Dino Melaye and the four suspects rearrested for alleged conspiracy and unlawful possession of prohibited firearms at the Federal High Court in Lokoja, Kogi on May 10.
The suspects are: Kabiru Seidu, 31, alias Osama, Nuhu Salisu, 25, alias small, Musa Mohammed, 27, alias Iko and Emmanuel Audu, 26.
The Police Command in Kogi had on March 28, announced the escape from lawful custody of six suspects including Seidu and Salisu. Four of the six suspects were re-arrested on March 30, according to the Police.
The Nigeria Customs Service on Tuesday approved the introduction of a new uniform to complement the existing ones currently in use.
The Public Relations Officers of the Service, DC, Joseph Attah who made this known in a statement issued to newsmen in Abuja said the additional uniform was intended to give officers variety of uniforms that can be worn depending on the weather and assignment to be executed.
