Schools in the North-West region of Nigeria are to be shut down for a period of 30 days with effect from Monday, March 23, 2020 to prevent the spread of global corona virus pandemic. The development was disclosed by Governor AminuMasari of Kastina State through a communiqué that was released at the end of a meeting of North-West Governors in Kaduna State.

Following the ongoing dispute between the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on ranges of issues, the FG disclosed that it has made proposals to ASUU in efforts to resolve the pending disputes.
