Lagos State government in conformity with the announcement of Federal Government directing students in exit classes in Nigeria to resume on Tuesday, August 4, 2020, said that all the SS3 and Technical Studies (TEC3) students in day and boarding schools can resume on Monday, August 3, 2020. Making the information public on Wednesday, the Commissioner for Education in the state, Folasade Adefisayo, stressed that only those mentioned (SS3 and Technical Study Three (TEC3) students) are permitted to resume to allow them to revise classes preparatory to their forthcoming West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

The Federal Ministry of Education through the Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba has stated that students may be asked to sit for the General Certificate Examinations (GCE) which is usually held in November as the country may fail to meet up with this year’s West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) timetable due to the COVID-19 pandemic ravaging the country.

In a bid to provide a safe environment for students set to participate in the 2020 West African Examination Council (WAEC) examinations, the council has released safety guidelines for the conduct of this year's exams on Tuesday.
