An unfortunate incident occurred at about 11 am today. A two-story building housing Saint Academy School has collapsed in the Busa Buji community of Jos North Local Government Area, Plateau State. It was reported that over 100 students writing their third term promotion examination are trapped in the rubble. Immediate rescue efforts were mobilized to aid the trapped students, with emergency teams, including security personnel from the Nigerian Police and Army, swiftly arriving at the scene to coordinate the rescue operations.

Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser, has announced ongoing plans to establish a dedicated Directorate within the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), on Niger Delta security. Ribadu made this known in his keynote address at a Stakeholders Summit organised by the Niger Delta Development (NDDC) in Port Harcourt on Wednesday. He emphasised that the new directorate would allow the Federal Government to address the unique security challenges of the Niger Delta in a more structured and professional manner. “We are currently working closely with the governors of the region and the Presidency in making this a reality. “When fully implemented, we anticipate that President Tinubu will likely present policy guidance that will define his security management posture for sustainable Niger Delta development,” he said.

Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Ali Ndume, (Borno South, APC) has expressed concern over the rising cost of living and food scarcity amongst Nigerians as hunger has continue to bite hard. While having an interview with BBC Hausa, Ndume said the federal government’s inability to address these issues has become thing of a great concern to them as people representative, adding that some ministers are being shut out from having an audience with President Bola Tinubu to discuss the matter.

The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Ariwoola, will on 10th July 2024 swear in the wife of the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Eberechi Wike, and 21 other judges appointed to the Court of Appeal. The ceremony will take place at 10:00 am in the Main Courtroom of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Director of Information & Public Relations at the Supreme Court of Nigeria, Dr. Akande Festus, it was revealed that Justice Ariwoola will also swear in 12 new Judges for the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as the CJN’s daughter-in-law, Ariwoola Oluwakemi Victoria is among the 12 judges to be sworn.
