The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has deployed a rescue team to Dikko Junction on the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway in Niger State after a deadly tanker explosion. The incident, which occurred on Saturday morning, claimed at least 70 lives and injured 56 people. The explosion happened when a tanker carrying PMS crashed, and an attempt to transfer its contents to another tanker led to a fire after the fuel contacted a generator being used for the transfer. The blaze destroyed nearby shops and property.

Recently, the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Olanipekun Olukoyede dismissed some officers within the agency who were involved in gross misconduct. Activist and human rights lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has called on the Chairman to disclose and prosecute dismissed officers within the agency. He argued that such action would serve as a deterrent to others.

In a final clearance of remnant of terrorist in Nigeria, the Joint Task Force of Operation Hadin Kai in the North-East has imposed a total ban on the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), popularly called drones, across Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa states. The Air Component Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, Air Commodore U.U. Idris, , gave the directive through a signal dispatched to the all Army formations, citing security risks posed by unauthorized drone operations in the region.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Folashade Arinola Adekaiyaoja, as the Deputy Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS). It was learned that such appointment by president Tinubu’s is first of its kind within the DSS as part of his plan to reposition the secret police. According to source within the system who pleaded anonymity as he was not authorize to speak said, the appointment is in line with the original organogram of the Service.
