President Tinubu Declares National Security Emergency, Orders Widespread Recruitment into the Army and Police
As Nigeria faces growing security threats, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu declared a national security emergency on Wednesday and announced broad measures, including significant recruiting campaigns for the police and armed forces. The President approved the hiring of an extra 20,000 police officers, bringing the total authorized for the year to 50,000, in a nationwide statement released from the State House. Additionally, he gave the Nigerian Army instructions to start recruiting new soldiers in order to increase the number of soldiers in important operational theaters.
