The Nigeria Police Force in Kaduna has dismissed reports circulating in the media that claimed 150 to 200 individuals were kidnapped along the Abuja-Kaduna Highway. According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, these reports are entirely fabricated and have no basis in fact. DSP Mansir Hassan noted that the Command had been alerted to a misleading report spreading on social media, alleging mass abductions along the Abuja-Kaduna route. He emphasized that no such incidents have been recorded on that highway in the past two years. The area, he assured, remains under constant surveillance and is regularly patrolled by security forces including the Police, Military, and DSS to ensure the safety of all travelers.

The Department of State Services (DSS) has filed a new application at the Federal High Court in Abuja, seeking to restrain former presidential candidate Patrick Utomi from making public statements or organizing rallies linked to his proposed shadow government in Nigeria.

In a joint operation to rid Nigerian forest of terrorist bandits, the Department of State Services (DSS) and the military have killed about 45 bandits around Kuchi town in Munya LGA of Niger State. The operation, which was meant to be carried out secretly, has made another remarkable victory in the sustained offensives against bandits in the area.

The Controller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Sylvester Nwakuche has charged Zonal Coordinators, State Command Controllers, and heads of training institutions to secure all correctional facilities or face strict consequences. Minister of State for Works, Mohammed Goroyo, has yesterday declared that the Federal Government spends as much as N880bn annually for the maintenance of the federal road network nationwide. This is coming after the Managing Director of the Federal Road Maintenance Agency, FERMA Chukwuemeka Abbasi, has raised observation that the template for deducting the road user charge from the prices of petrol and diesel was never implemented by the defunct Petroleum Product Pricing Regulatory Authority, now the Nigeria Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority.

In a continued trial of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the federal High Court sitting in Abuja had yesterday admitted video evidence recorded where the IPOB leader was threatening some prominent Igbo leaders over their stance on his activities.Justice James Omotosho admitted the video recording in evidence and marked as exhibit after Kanu’s lawyer, Paul Erokoro, SAN, did not oppose its admissibility.
