A camouflaged crude oil storage facility used to steal crude oil from the Niger Delta's creeks has been discovered by members of the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Delta. Following information on suspected crude oil theft activities in the Ugbokodo Creek region of Delta State, the naval forces discovered the illicit storage site during an operation code-named Delta Sentinel. This was revealed on Wednesday in a statement by Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, Director of Naval Information. The statement said that the naval forces first searched the region with the use of aircraft surveillance.

The Federal Republic of Nigeria's Minister of Defense, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (rtd.), and the Republic of Cameroon's Minister delegate at the Presidency in charge of defense, Mr. Joseph Beti Assomo, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Wednesday in Yaounde to strengthen bilateral defense cooperation and secure their shared southern border, marking a significant step toward regional stability. "The signing ceremony concluded two days of intensive deliberations by defense and security experts from both nations."

Gunmen on Monday night attacked the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru, Plateau State, killing two soldiers and a police officer attached to the institution's security detail. The slain security personnel were reportedly on duty at the institute's staff quarters when the attackers struck. Confirming the incident in a statement issued on Tuesday, the Head of Public Affairs at NIPSS, Dr Osime Samuel, said the attack occurred near the institute but assured the public that the situation had been contained.

Nigeria’s Defence Minister, Christopher Musa, has attributed the persistence of terrorism, banditry, and insurgency in the country to the activities of local collaborators and financiers who provide support to criminal groups. The Department of State Services (DSS), with support from troops of the Nigerian Army's 82 Division, has foiled an alleged plot by members of the outlawed Eastern Security Network (ESN) to attack security checkpoints and carry out mass kidnappings across states in the Southeast. A security source disclosed that acting on intelligence gathered by the DSS, two ESN field commanders who were coordinating the planned attacks were arrested on Monday in Garki, Enugu State.
