The Federal Government, yesterday during a trial, expanded the criminal charges against former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, by introducing fresh allegations bordering on interference with critical national infrastructure and unauthorised access to classified information. The new counts are contained in a further amended five-count charge filed earlier on April 13, 2026, before the Federal High Court in Abuja, replacing an earlier three-count charge instituted on February 16, 2026.

The federal government has concluded a plan to parade the detained suspects linked to an alleged plot to overthrow the President Bola Tinubu-led administration for concealment of treason, terrorism and money laundering. The suspects are former Governor of Bayelsa State, Timpre Sylva; Major General Mohammed Ibrahim Gana (rtd); a retired Navy Captain, Erasmus Ochegobia Victor; and Inspector Ahmed Ibrahim. Others are Zekeri Umoru, Bukar Kashim Goni and Abdulkadir Sani. A 13-count charge was filed against them on Tuesday.

Few weeks after President Bola Tinubu visited Plateau State and promised justice for victims of serial attacks, the State Government on Friday filed charges against five suspects arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) in connection with the March 2026 killings of several persons in Angwa- Rukuba, Jos North LGA of the state. The government filed charges of criminal conspiracy to commit terrorism and other related offences against the quartet of Isa Umar Ibrahim, Auwalu Abubakar aka Auwalu Dogo, and Musa Abubakar Ibrahim aka Yaroro.

The Nigeria Police Academy's governing board has been reorganized by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who has also approved the construction of a new campus in Ogun State and a N15 billion take-off grant intended to increase the Nigerian Police Force's training capacity. The President announced the rebuilding of the 16-member council of the institution in Wudil, Kano State, and named Minister of Police Affairs Ibrahim Gaidam as chairman in a statement released on Monday by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga.

According to Rear Adm. Abdullahi Ahmed, Commandant of the National Defense College, climate change is a developing strategic threat to national security that calls for specific military readiness. Ahmed made the request on Monday in Abuja while announcing the opening of a roundtable on the military's response to energy security issues brought on by climate change.

In the Okuju neighborhood of Ilado, Badagry, Lagos, agents of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, have discovered an illicit baby factory. This was revealed on Friday while victims between the ages of 18 and 30 were brought to the NSCDC office in Ibereko, Badagry, by State Commandant Adedotun Keshinro. He stated that two suspected facility operators, Joy Okeke and Raphael Agwu, were also taken into custody during an operation that took place from Wednesday night into the early hours of Thursday and resulted in the rescue of 18 pregnant women and 10 toddlers.
