Founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, Aare Afe Babalola SAN, has this morning after much persuasion by royal fathers has agreed to withdraw the cases instituted against activist and lawyer, Dele Farotimi. Babalola’s petition to the police commissioner in Ekiti State alleging that, Farotimi defamed him in a book he published titled ‘Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System’, a complain that made the police arrest the activist lawyer and paraded him before two courts in Ekiti.

The Government of plateau state has formerly announced the passing away of its illustrious son in person of Jeremiah Timbut Useni, former Federal Capita Territory Minister during Abacha government. The former military general was said to have passed on yesterday 23rd January, 2025 at the age of 82 after a protracted illness.

The Department of State Service, DSS, has approach the court to file a five count charges against the embattled popular activist, Mahdi Shehu. It was learned that the move is coming on the heel of his re-arrest by the secret police operatives last week at his clinic at Unguwar Dosa, Kaduna. 

The Katsina State Government has slammed participating in any peace negotiations with terrorist bandits, following reports of an alleged peace deal stroked involving bandit kingpins at Batsari Local Government Area of the state. Speaking with Daily Trust correspondence, Dr Bala Salisu, the state’s Commissioner for Information and Culture, clarified that the Katsina state government remains firm in its position against negotiating with bandits.
