The incident of Ibom Air female passenger Comfort Emmanson and her subsequent detention in Kirikiri Correctional Centre for allegedly assaulting an Ibom Air cabin crew member and some security officers during a Uyo–Lagos flight on Sunday has triggered public outrage and accusations of selective justice.
In an effort to reposition discipline, professionalism, and accountability in the Nigerian public service, the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board has approved sanctions against dozens of officers of the Nigerian Correctional Service. The move follows the recommendation of the disciplinary committee after careful review of 231 disciplinary cases brought before the board.
The African Development Bank (AfDB) and its partners have disclosed that its office has mobilized 2.2 billion dollars (about N3.4 trillion) to implement special agro-industrial processing zones across Nigeria. Troops of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with hybrid forces and backed by intelligence from the Department of State Services (DSS), on Friday neutralized at least 45 bandits in Iburu village, in the Shiroro LGA of Niger State. According to security sources, the DSS intercepted intelligence on the armed terrorists, travelling on motorcycles to launch attacks on Iburu and nearby communities.
Following the rising vulnerability of Nigerians to data theft, the National Identity Management Commission, NIMC has warned Nigerians not to sell their personal data for N1,500 or N2,000. The spokesman of NIMC, Kayode Adegoke, issued the warning on behalf of the agency in a statement he signed on Sunday.
