The House of Representatives on Tuesday sworn in three new members, Omosede Igbinedion (Edo State), Felix Bagudu (Kaduna State), and Murktar Rabiu (Jigawa State). The swearing-in ceremony took place during plenary, with Speaker Abbas Tajudeen announcing their presence as they were introduced into the chamber by the Clerk of the House.
All three lawmakers, who represent the All Progressives Congress (APC), recently won their respective by-elections conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
INEC had declared Igbinedion the winner of the Ovia Federal Constituency by-election in Edo State, where she secured 77,053 votes. The election was held to fill the seat left vacant in September 2024 after Dennis Idahosa became the state’s deputy governor.
In Kaduna State, Bagudu emerged victorious in the Chikun–Kajuru Federal Constituency by-election with 34,580 votes, replacing the late Ekene Adams of the Labour Party.
Similarly, Rabiu won the by-election for the Garki/Babura Federal Constituency in Jigawa State, garnering 38,449 votes to claim the seat.
