Former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim, met with President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. In his company were the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, and Governor of Ebonyi State , Francis Nwifuru.

Anyim was the 9th President of the Senate from 2000 to 2003 and was Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) during Goodluck Jonathan’s presidency as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but he recently dumped the party to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking with journalist after meeting with President Tinubu, he said, “There is a need that we all should put hands together to move the country forward. I have a determination to be sure that the country moves on the right path and I should be available to contribute my quota.

“Contributing quota does not necessarily mean to work but to engender a conducive atmosphere for progress, I am not looking for work.

“But there is a need that given the challenges the country is facing today, we all need to put all hands on deck to make the country move forward. The country is passing through turbulent times and it is the duty of all patriots to ensure a peaceful atmosphere.”
