The Nigerian former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Professor Joy Uche Angela Ogwu, has reportedly passed at the age of 79 in a hospital at New York, United States of America, she died at the wee hours of Monday Morning, after a protracted battle with Cancer.
Professor Joy Ogwu served diligently as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and also, was respected for the exemplary leadership skills she exhibited as Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA).
Ambassador Usman Sarki, former Nigerian Deputy Permanent Representative to United Nations, who was privileged to serve under her mentorship in New York, expressed deep sense of loss over her death, while describing the deceased as a fine and decent woman who represented Nigeria to the best of her ability. He therefore prayed for the repose of her soul.
