The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has suspended the head of Security at the Akure Airport, Ondo state.
The suspension follows a runway incursion by cows on Saturday which prevented an Air Peace aircraft from landing for some minutes.
A plane belonging to Dana Air overshot the runway in Port Harcourt on Tuesday after landing at the Port Harcourt Airport.
The plane had flown to Port Harcourt from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in the nation’s capital Abuja.
The General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Henrietta Yakubu, confirmed the incident.
The Bishop of Ahiara Catholic Diocese in Imo State, Peter Okpaleke has resigned. His appointment by the Vatican had created crisis, and was opposed by the laity and a section of the clergy.
Opkaleke, who hails from Anambra State, was consecrated in 2012, after the death of Dr. Victor Chikwe. A letter said to have emanated from the pontiff on February 19, accepted Okpaleke’s resignation.

The Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, CSN, has returned to the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, after five years of walking out of the national Christian Umbrella body in the country over some irreconcilable differences with the leadership.
Catholic Bishops had in a letter dated September 24, 2012 which was signed by their President, Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama, and addressed to the then CAN President, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, announced the withdrawal of the Catholic church from the organisation.
However, in 2017, Kaigama led a delegation from the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, CBCN, to the CAN National secretariat where, in a meeting with the CAN President, Rev Dr Samson Ayokunle and his team, they addressed the identified grey areas and fashioned out ways of addressing them. Sequel to that, Kaigama disclosed the readiness of the Catholics to work with the new CAN leadership.

The incident, which occurred around 12pm, took those at the airport by surprise.
It took the intervention of officials of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and other security operatives to clear the runway for safe landing.
