President Muhammadu Buhari has approved an operation tagged ‘OPERATION SWIFT RESPONSE’ on Saturday, February, 29, as a border drill exercise to checkmate the illegal activities of smugglers across the nation’s borders. The exercise is to further the assurance of food security and improve the local production of goods at competitive prices by the federal government.

It appears the attention of the French government has been drawn to the ravaging insecurity in the country. French Ambassador to Nigeria Jerome Pasquier on Wednesday, Feb. 26, has expressed concern that he believes the Nigerian government is not doing enough to stamp out insecurity causing immense misery to many Nigerians. 

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Igbo National Council (INC), has placed a demand on the governors of the South-East to establish regional security outfit for the South-East geopolitical zone. During a meeting, which was attended by their members from 20 states of the country, the group led by its National President Chilos Godsent, gave a 90 days ultimatum for the launch of the regional security outfit, after it rejected the view of the Inspector-General of Police (AIG), Mohammed Adamu's, proposal for community policing for the South-East zone.
