President MuhammaduBuhari has appointed a former director-general of the State Security Service, Afakirya A. Gadzamamni as chairman of the Governing Board of the National Institute for Security Studies (NISS). In a letter conveying the appointment,referenced SGF.2/S.9/C.3/10, and signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha.

As part of plans to ensure the Nations mineral resource is protected, the Nigerian government has commenced moves to stop the illegal activities of Chinese and other artisanal miners across the country.
