A bill seeking to extend immunity to cover Presiding Officers of Legislative Institutions which has scaled second reading in the House of Representatives and has been applauded by majority of the lawmakers who view it as crucial in safeguarding the sanctity of the National Assembly has received condemnation by some Nigerians especially the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP).
President Muhammadu Buhari will be in Ondo state today to inaugurate projects executed by the governor of the state, Rotimi Akerodolu and also as part of activities to mark his third year anniversary in office. The Ondo State Government, through the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr Donald Ojogohas has declared Tuesday public holiday so as to welcome President Muhammadu Buhari to the state and to also celebrate Rotimi Akerodolu third year in office.
The Speaker of the Lagos House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has declared that the new security outfit, Operation Amotekun, has come to stay in the state and the South West. The lawmaker stated this on Monday at a public hearing on a bill to establish the security operation in Lagos state.
The Buhari Media Organization (BMO) has commended the Nigeria Armed Forces for its security strategies and efforts in degrading Boko Haram and insecurity in Nigeria. The Nigeria Armed Forces have been charged not to relent on their recent strategies, which have effectively degraded the operational capacity of the insurgents’ thereby enhancing peace and security in the Northeast and Nigeria generally.
